Can I Learn to Love Sales?

I get asked all of the time "Can I learn to love sales?" The answer is easy. Yes! Without a doubt, yes!

The biggest problem people face in regards to sales is a lack of understanding as to what sales actually is. We often carry around with us the concept that sales are some extroverted activity that requires arrogance, boasting, and sleaziness. We believe our internal stories that sales require us to lie, deceive, or mislead. None of this could be farther from the truth!

I am here to tell you that sales is none of those things! Sales is not making yourself uncomfortable. Sales is not putting yourself or your potential customers in a position they don't want to be in. Sales is not gross. Sales is the ability to influence someone else to make a good decision. That is as simple as it gets. 

The best part? You've been doing this your whole life. You've been selling to your spouse, to your boss, to your kids, even to your parents nearly every day. Sales is involved anytime you need to get someone to agree or believe in what you are saying. Do you want to go to a particular movie that your spouse doesn't want to go on? That's a sales call. Do you want to choose a different restaurant? Another sales call. How about trying to win a particular assignment at work? That's another sales call.

You can love sales and chances are you already do but just didn't realize it yet.
